Yak And Merino Wool Fiber Characteristics: Take Advantage
Wool made from sheep could vary in softness and strength. Merino wool is usually thought of as the softest sheep wool. This is because of the size of the individual fibers that measure 18-24 millimeters wide. Cashmere fibers are a diameter of about 11-12 microns. The wool made from Romney sheep is a diameter of 29 to 36 microns. Merino wool is a great choice for knitting projects. Merinowool has many other desirable characteristics such as warmth low strength, medium elasticity, excellent feltability low luster, a lack of drape, and a high degree of warmth. Here is a complete listing of the qualities of yarns made from Merino wool.

Characteristics of Fibers
Softness It is an important feature when it comes down to clothing that is cool in the winter.
Strength: This refers the strength of resistance to tensile, or pulling force.
Luster: Does it shine? Lustrous fibers, such as mohair or silk, generally dye brightly.
Elasticity: Do knitted or yarn-knitted materials bounce back to their original form after being stretched out? What is the amount of stretch it can stretch out per pull, in relation to the force of the pull?
Drape: How does the drape hang? Does it flow easily?
Halo: Some yarns create the appearance of glowing fibers which are not in the same yarn.
Knitted fabric can become stiffened and sometimes obscured by the agitation. Different fibers shrink slightly when felted.

Merino Wool And Yak's Thermal Properties
Yak and merino wool base layer fabrics are the pinnacle of base layers. Combining yak and merino with wool, our base layers deliver incredible breathability, warmth, comfort, and warmth. To offer outdoor enthusiasts the highest levels of comfort, we developed the first yak wool technical fabrics. These fabrics give you the highest level of warmth when you require it, temperature regulation which prevents overheating, humidity management and heat regulation. The high altitude home of the yak is where the wooly warmth can be found. These hardy beasts have evolved their super-wool to be able to withstand cold temperatures at altitudes of 4,000-6,000 meters and the harsh winter season.

The warmest base layers we offer 60 percent premium Yak wool 40% supersoft and luxurious Merino. These are a top thermals for men blend.

Other Fibers To Consider
Highland wool is most commonly made from Corriedale sheep. While it's not as soft as Merino wool, it's stronger than Merino and has a higher degree of elasticity.
Baby camel down, yak down, and cashmere are just the delicate undercoat of dual-coated animals. They are incredibly warm, soft and moderately elastic. They drape better than the merino. They can produce a subtle halo to knitted yarns and knitted fabric. These fibers can be found in natural colors of gray and brown, and white. They can also block the colors of dyed yarns.

Mulberry silk and tussah silk are both cocoons of silk-producing moths. Silk made of Mulberry (or bombyx) is very light; tussah silk is an ethereal golden brown. Both silks are tough extremely soft, shiny and lustrous. I've found that silk can feel cool in hot weather and warm in cool temperatures. Silks drape wonderfully since they have an imperceptible elasticity.

Mohair is a hair fiber made from Angora sheep. The characteristics of mohair depend on the age of an animal. The first and second clips of kid mohair are the softest. They have a great shine and are elastic. But it drapes well. Young mohair (third and fourth clips) can be very much as kid, however it's a little stronger and more shiny. Adult mohair, which is composed of goats that are older than two years old, is strong, shiny, very shiny, doesn't feel and is extremely drapey. Mohair, regardless of its age, is a warm and comfortable fiber.

Nylon is a synthetic polyester that is often added in wool yarns to increase the strength, and consequently durability, of the yarn. Nylon is elastic and has luster, but it's not so warm as wool. It also doesn't absorb moisture in the same way as wool does.

Superwash Merino. To make sure that wool fibers adhere to one another, they are coated with scales. It allows wool yarns to be spun with low twist. It is also responsible for the wool yarns' elasticity and feelability. Superwash wool has the wool fibers removed or covered up. Superwash wools can have a bit more twist, and the resulting knitted materials may not have the same flexibility. Superwash wools are not abrasive and wash easily. Superwash wools are often made of nylon to provide durability and easy cleaning.

Alpaca (huacaya and suri) provides warmth as well as softness to knitted fabrics. It feels as good as or even better than the merino wool.
Angora (from Angora bunnies) is incredibly soft. It's very comfortable and has a distinct shimmer.
Cotton is very elastic and cool. Merinocotton-cotton blends are some of my favourite sweaters. These yarns create clothes that are perfect for autumn and spring.

How To Pick The Right Thermal Clothes
Whether you're looking for the best ski base layer or any other outdoor activities at altitude. We have discovered that the yak and merino fibre thermal blend is the most versatile and comfortable. However, here are some additional tips for picking the appropriate style of thermals for males and thermals for women.

1. Your Movement Is Free From Restraints
The ideal thermal clothing will fit comfortably against your skin, but not tight enough to restrict movement. The right thermals can help you move more easily, maintain warmth in your body and help prevent cold-related shocks.

2. Check For Smoothness
No matter if you're purchasing thermals for men or women it's crucial that the fabric you choose feels soft and has well-crafted seams. A rougher fabric, zipper edges and bulky seams cause friction and rub against the body causing itching and abrasions. The smallest of irritations can make your day miserable.

3. Pick The Right Fabric
Find out the differences between synthetic and natural fibers and how heat transfers across different materials. We recommend wool for its natural moisture wicking ability and the ability to ensure your skin stays dry when layering fabric. Dry skin allows you to maintain your ideal body temperature longer. If you sweat, it may quickly turn into a problem. Wool has amazing natural, anti-stink properties that will permit you to wear your gear for longer time periods without washing it. This is crucial when you're on the mountains for long periods of time.
